Vertical herb gardens – a great idea for city-dwellers.

A few weeks ago we ran into a vertical herb garden while touring a swanky River North apartment complex. This green building — Flair Tower– had a vertical herb garden set up on its rooftop pool/grilling area for residents to use whenever they like. A thoughtful perk.

Next day we ran into a vertical garden for sale at the Logan Square Farmers Market. Produced by Upward Ground, these handy ladders of living things allow the urbanite to grow a little patch of garden, even on the smallest patio. Upward Ground has a host of innovative gardening options including pouches that allow you to grow on a wall.

Now we just need suggestions for getting bees to travel to the 41st floor…
